Description | Globular body; neck collared. One vertical handle shoulder to collar. Small. Painted with stripes. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel is painted with vertical stripes in orange, red, and white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is buff in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes black staining on the interior. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1870." |
