Description | The iron blade widens gradually twowards the forward end, from a slight constriction near the base, then narrowes more abruptly to the point. It is inserted by a tang into the wooden shaft, the insertion being reinforced by an iron tube, behind which are two plaited rings of plant cuticle and a spiral of the same material dyed red. The shaft tapers gradually towards the butt, which is inserted in a a conical ferrule. |
