Description | Fairly hard, medium brown wood. Full relief, in a sitting position, but unlike 58-17-4 only single links are represented. Arm and leg are joined by what may be a representation of a bird's head. Shallow incised carving on body and limbs show traces of being covered with white paint; "bull's eye" in the middle of the body. Eyes, mouth and hair line painted black; eyes are black gum with small seeds in middle; small wooden plug through nose. Seed ornaments in ears, around neck, wrist and ankle. Continuous band of shallow carving down the back. |
