Description | Wood figure (male) standing on square wood base. Dark blue woven cotton loincloth with narrow red and yellow stripes wound around hips and tied in back. Right hand upraised, with round hole (to hold spear?); left arm also upraised, with squared-off end, square hole with peg (to hold shield?). Wire earrings, with spiral dics, hanging from holes in ear lobes. Double toothed line carved across top of forehead; single toothed lines from shoulders to breast. Purchased by Stewart Culin at the Columbian Historical Exposition in1892 in Madrid. |
