Description

Arrowhead or point (石鏃). Arrow shaped point with well defined tangs. Bifacially retouched. Red-brown opaque stone. This is one of three arrowheads, 13183, 13196 and 13201, which not only have concave bases but are waisted at the center section. The tangs at the end are exagerated. This special charateristic may simply be a variant of the bifacially retouched arrowheads with concave bases which have been found throughout Japan and can be dated to the Jomon and Yayoi Periods.
