Description

Black-on-Red jug; Complete; fabric rotted and flaking, obscuring much of decoration; hole in lower body (0.014 m. diameter); slip badly worn and flaking. Coarse brittle fabric with large reddish orange grits (as 52.5); dark brown matte paint. Raised concave base; Sagging ovoid body with greatest diameter at belly; Tall,wide, nearly straight neck;tightly pinched rim; vertical handle from rim to shoulder. Band encircling rim and base of neck; Bands encircling low shoulder /belly; ladder pattern (possibly combined with zig-zag as on 52.2).
