Description | Eros with Dolphin. Standing with left foot forward; knees slightly bent; wings unfurled behind; holding proportionately rather large dolphin on right shoulder, with right hand above and left below. Head loooking to right, face close to dolphin; hair parted on both sides and gathered into a topknot above. Wing feathers carefully engraved; very careful modelling of figures. Standing on round plinth with molded profile. Spout in mouth of dolphin for use as fountain figure. Original found at Pompeii. |
