Description

Buff ware, greenish slip. Disc base; globular body; wide neck; loop handle from upper part of neck to shoulder. Deep groove just below rim, below this is a band [in some places a double band] of incised diamonds, below this 2 grooves then a band of incised diamonds, below which is another groove. Just below juncture of neck and body is a band of fine raised leaf-stem design, then a band of high fluted bosses, with below this on shoulder 6 diamond motifs each composed of 9 incised diamonds with a circumscribed dot in centre, between each 2 diamond motifs is a vertical band of incised chevrons. Decoration on shoulder extends 3/4 way around body but does not include handle section.
