Description | Depressed globular with thickened rim. Two horizontal loop handles on shoulder. Painted with four fields containing quincunx and separated by broad red stripes. Fragmentary Bowl with a carinated body, no neck/collar, flanged rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with bands of orange and red, outlined in black and white. The orange bands also have circle designs in black. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. There is a twisted 2-ply plant fiber cord tied around one of the handles. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "807." |
