Description | Two flat plates of bronze, (a) with a riveted flange on one edge, both showing holes for linking through pages of a small book. Each plate is decorated with two incised figures, surrounded by decorative framing patterns. The figures are: (a) top=female, probably Sita; bottom=male youth with flowers (Ravana?); (b) top=a male figure seated (Rama?) and bottom = Hanuman the Monkey King, from the Ramayana epic. Style related to 16-17c Hindu paintings. |
