Description | Two spouted with connecting handle, shape of fish. Double-spouted jug with an effigy-zoomorphic body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 bridge handle on the necks/spouts, and a flat base. The vessel is shaped like a fish with two fins on either side of the body, eyes, and a mouth. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is gray and brown in color. The ceramic appears gray and greenish in areas, possibly from overfiring. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1159a." |
