Description | Bridal veil made of three panels of gauze-weave material. Sides are sewn shut with openings for arms. Neck has decorative flower applique. Top portion has a pattern of dots, zigzags and snowflakes. Upper-middle portion has tall, geometric figures, possibly plants. Lower-middle portion has birds, plants and dot designs. Bottom portion has dot and bird design. All brocading is in yellow, mauve and purple. Late 19th, early 20th century. Makes a set with 83-13-6, 9 and 19. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 30 epi, single ply, Z twist, one strand, white cotton. Weft: 38 ppi, single ply, Z twist, one strand, white cotton. Balanced weave. Three panels, two selvedges each." |
