Description | Fish trap. Cone-shaped, with bamboo slats and cane lashings. This type of trap is used in connection with an earth dam, in tidal portions of streams. The dam is built to function for one ebb period; the trap, wide end upstream, goes through the dam, acting as a drain. When the tide goes out, the water flows against the dam and the flow through the drain draws fish into the trap. Made by Kerek Dokyap, Meremko clan, Dome village. |
