Description | Plain weave cotton cloth; four breadths; rectangular design area brocaded and embroidered mainly in intricate geometric motifs on front; larger design area with same motifs on upper portion of garment; main colors: red, yellow, green and black silk thread. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 46 epi, one ply, Z twist, two strands, white cotton. Weft: 22 ppi, one ply, Z twist, two strands, white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced, continuous and discontinuous. Two panels, four selvedges each, tucked at shoulders, T-shaped neck. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
