Description | Complete. Wheelmade. Two vases, exactly alike, joined at mid-body by short bridge. Flat bases, ovoid bodies, flaring rims. Band handle, elliptical in section, attached transversely each side of bridge, rises above tims. Brown-black curvilinear/geometric decoration, with small amount of added orange-red. On lower body, vertical vegetal design. Above this decoration proceeds in straight horizontal registers separated by double lines which are aometimes filled with red. On rims, concentric semicircles. On bridge, linear pattern with red underneath. On handle, herring bone. Medium fabric. Fairly fine clay. Polished (?). Fired drab buff-brown with very fine mica. |
