Description

Flat base, globular body. Swollen or collared neck with everted lip. With bird pattern. Painting in red-black-white

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, compound neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with bands of stylized "bird" design around the shoulder in white, black, orange, red, and purple. The neck is painted with dots and curvilinear design in orange, black, and white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1562."
