Black with Face/Arms. Globular body with slightly tapering neck, small loop handle shoulder to neck. Face on neck, left arm in full relief with hand to face, right arm partly full, partly high relief, hand resting on knees (low relief) and holding object

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with an oblong body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, flanged rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. There is a modeled human seated with facial features on the neck and limbs on the body. The figure holds something in its right hand and holds the left hand up to the mouth. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the shoulder/body Evidence of usewear includes scratches on the exterior. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2768."
