Natural color bark cloth with rubbed rectilinear pattern (upeti) and dark brown freehand over painting. Natural border with dark brown over painting in concentric circles and linear designs. Acquired during the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842) by Titian R. Peale. “Tapa dress [garment]. (Man’s).” on Peale list.
