Description | Modelled figure on front of pot. Man wearing short pleated skirt. Broad shoulders. Carried spear in hand and round object in other. Ear plugs (?) and necklace (?). Head large for body. Sunken cheeks, large nose. Background behind body is raised dots. Back of pot may be cape man is wearing. Modelled hair falls on top of this. Plain base below figure. He wears a flaring headdress with incised decoration. Headdress forms opening of vessel. Black ware, highly polished. Chimu influenced, probably early Columbian. |
