Description

Flat, wooden Katsina cradle doll. The face is painted yellow with a plumed serpent on each cheek. An area between the eyes is painted with a yellow and red terraced design. The ears are round blossoms painted with yellow and blue lines. A painted brim sits above the forehead. The body is painted white and red with yellow and green arms. This figure is the Water Serpent (Palolokong or Palulukon) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #233, Wright, B., 1973 #198)
