The larger one is a plain weave cotton with two woven stripes (one is a double-sided double-faced bobbin weave while the other is a single-faced bobbin weave). Along one edge is a knitted edging. The plain weave was also embroidered with a black design, but the design is no longer clear. The smaller fragment is a double-faced bobbin weave stripe with some plain weave with black embroidery. According to the catalogue card, this is a part of a "loin cloth". Color(s): White plain weave, woven section is red, yellow, and black. |
