Description

Samurai mail jacket or soldier jacket (kusari katabira). Heavy jacket with a blue fabric interior and brown fabric exterior covered with metal links (kusari). Most of the jacket uses twisted links woven together in a four-in-one pattern. The area around the heart, neck, and right shoulder seam are all woven with butted links. The portion of the jacket that hangs below the waist has a pattern of open, unarmored squares. This lightens the weight of the jacket in an area where the wearer would likely already have leg protection beneath. Links are coated with black lacquer, some of which has chipped off. Brown material under chain with green collar (inside and out). Brown inside. Tails have wider squares of chain.
