Description | Narrow, more or less rectangular shield, with rectangular projection at top, pierced with two holes. Three faces down front, noses projecting and pierced. Carved and painted decoration: circles, ovals, feathery lines, much serration. Black, white, yellow, pinkish pigments. Fiber tassels knotted through holes down sides: eight down each side, each with two tassels, one reddish and one natural. Similarly, two tassels, one red and one natural, in each nose. "Necklace" of black feathers and peel attached at top through holes in projection. On back, two pairs of vertical wooden loops, with peel knotted across them, for grip. |
