Description

Urn: Pottery. Intact, but surface worn. Fabric of medium fine texture, buff at core, outer surface varying from dark copper red to orange. Wheel-made. Medium polish. Filled with burned bones apparently from more than one body.

Lid: Pottery. Surface abrasions. Fabric similar to Urn. Wheel-made. An unusual piece combinging two techniques. Its inner surface, treated with a color wash and well polished, is of a deep copper red colore, the handle, however, the exterior of the vase and the inside of the foot are covered with a cream slip, over which are painted designs in red: transverse lines on the handle; hatched triangles on rim; below rim a zigzag with enclosed chevrons, broad transverse boands connecting this zone with foot; band about top of foot and on its flaring edge.
