Description | Coat with painted figures on the front. The design represents a bear holding a copper shield or "tina" in its mouth. The image represented on the upper portion of the copper shield also represents a bear (Maurer, 1977 p. 317). At the bottom, two small, skeletonized, figures in profile represent the spirit of the raven, a crest object of the clan. Designs are painted in black, red, and green. The reverse is undecorated save for a small panel of dyed porcupine quills in white, red, and yellow. The decorative panel has hide fringe wrapped with red and white quills. The sides and shoulders of the coat are fringed. |
