Description | Figure of a bird, hooked beak in air, standing on rounded base. Human legs, bird feet. Cowrie shell eyes. Twisted fiber with tassels tied into seven carved loops down spine. Black, with white, red, yellow designs. This bird is a totemic ancestor figure, a heron (saun). The colors are characteristic of pieces from Tambunum.* |
