Description | Conical frame of vegetable fiber covered with clay and painted black, white, and red. Bottom portion is striped, in the middle on each side is a face (two faces), each with two pig tusks. Upper portion is covered with small feathers, mostly white, but interspersed with green ones. Hat used while playing tomtomduring Nimangi ceremony. Also used during dancing at the Nimangi.Placed in the nakamal and then subsequently reused. Item name: ai ilingas. |
