Description | Sommerville: Pale sardonyx. Coriolanus. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case P. Vermeule: Pale Sardonyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Coriolanus. His mother and wife beseeching him to raise the seige of Rome. On left the Roman guard who accompanied his mother, and on right his own, the Volscian guard. Sommerville calls it a "superb cameo". 18th (?) The costumes inspired by Roman historical reliefs. |
