Description

Plaid sarong with figures (tembe paleka-salunka). Predyed synthetic (nggoli). Machine sewn. Made in 1983, Larodu hamlet. Dark red, with overall pattern of butterflies and nested diamonds, mostly in white, green and golden yellow. In two rows, touches of orange, blue, hot pink and red. The most striking feature is the panel, which is defined by yellow weft threads. Spaced triangles, in green, white & yellow along edges. Rows of nested diamonds and a row of "H"s down center, again mostly in white, yellow, and green, with touches of hot pink & orange.
