Description | Painting. Padmasambhava and the Eight Principal Manifestations. Padma Sambhava, Founder of Lamaism, seated on a lotus rising from a lake (allusion to mystic birth), attended by his two wives. On each side of him (connected by rainbow rays), are four other forms of him. Top: 4-armed Avalokitesvara, Amitabha, Amitayus. Bottom: Acala, Kubera, Simhavaktra Dakini. Heap of offerings (7 jewels, etc.). Conventional Eastern Tibetan work; mounting has an interesting panel of satin, showing magpies and plum branches (Chinese). |
