Description | Carved from one peice of wood. Oblong, the obverse convex from side to side, the reverse concave. In the upper margin two deep notches are cut, in the lower, one. Across the shield, four lines of lacing (plant cuticle, bejuco) are carried to orevent splitting of the wood. A hand grip is cut in the thickness of the wood on the reverse side. An area in low relief bounded by a rurve, and approaching at its widest the middle line of the shield, occupies each side of the obverse. |
