Description

20th century child's huipil made of one panel. Multicolored cotton embroidery on white cotton ground.

As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 34 epi, single ply, Z twist, three strands, white cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, single ply, Z twist, three strands, white cotton. Supplementary weft: continuous- red, indigo, salmon, single ply, Z twist, multi-strand predominantly warp faced. Discontinuous- red, indigo, green and yellow cotton, single ply, Z twist, multi-strand. Purple is two ply cotton, green is silk. Four selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom."
