Description | Sommerville: Chalcedony-Onyx. Lysimachus. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case OO. Vermeule: Chalcedony-Onyx. Cameo. Draped bust identified as Lysimachus to right. The horn of Ammon is visible above the fillet in the hair. Lysimachus' features, as copied from his coins, were extremely popular with Neo-Classic cameo cutters because they afforded opportunity to represent the horn of Ammon, often in another color in the stone, in very high relief.
