Description | Tall. Made of loosely woven splints about 1.7cm wide. The warp splints are long, and go all the way underneath the basket and up the other side, for solid support. The woof splints spiral up around the sides of the basket, overlapping each other at the ends to continue the thread upward to the top. The warp splints are folded back on themselves and woven into the pattern. There are 2 places where repairs have been made with thread, by tying the weak or broken splint to an adjacent, whole splint. Generally the basket is not well-made. The top rim is very uneven, and the weave is very loose. The splints are deteriorating. |
