The top of the insides are painted green. The two part mast is secured with yellow nylon cord with small black weights. The boat is equipped with an anchor and a fixed rudder which is broken at the top into several small pieces. It is loosely mounted on a flat stand. They can either have a transom or pointed stern. The macchua is a non-mechanized vessel using a sail. They are also used as life boats on larger country craft ( large sailing vessels similar to the kotia).
