Description | Paper game board for 오밭고누 (o bat gonu) historically known as O Pat Kono or "Five-Field Kono". It is also sometimes referred to as 다섯줄 고누 (daseotjul konu) or "Five Lines Gonu". The players move one square at a time, either backward or forward, diagonally across the squares. The object of the game is to get the pieces across the other side in the place of those of the opponent. The one who does this first wiins the games. This game was collected by Stewart Culin who learned how to play it from Pak Young Kiu ( 박용규 ), the secretary of the Korean commission at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. |
