Description | Triangular woven shawl fragment done in a tapestry weave (kani). 2/2 weft-faced twill tapestry weave with double interlocking joints. The pattern contains densely packed rows of buta motifs in-filled with smaller floral motifs. Within each row, the interior ground color of the boteh motifs alternates from light to dark. The direction of the botehs alternates in each row. This fragment contains some areas that are stitched together by hand. Mainly red with all over paisley design. |
