| Description | Blade: Curved, heavy central rib; dark watered steel, inlaid with an inscription in gold on one side and date in gold on other. Inscription, two Turkish verses: Render thou blessed this (means of) deliverance, O unending Generosity (i.e., God). Don't let its owner suffer decline, O Lord, as long as he is alive. Hilt: gray-green jadedite (jade) with spirally curved pommel; incised with the same inscription on both sides (Arabic; trans.): In the name of God and God is great. Wootz steel blade with koftgari patterns. Handle is probably Indian. Sheath is Indian. Blade is Persian. Quality of script on the handle and on the blade are different which makes it likely that the handle was replaced on blade. The blade is very valuable. Curved blade with raised ridge in center. Blade has gold script on both sides. Handle is of green stone jade. Script is also carved into handle. Case of woven, brocaded cloth with brass tip. |
