Description | Basketry mask, with tall, flat, oval front. Face, with round eyes, flat projecting discs for nose and mouth, at bottom. Red-brown curvilinear designs, outlined by raised ridges, in lower two-thirds; background colored white. Open border edged with white feathers along sides of upper half and down center of face to nose at bottom. Peel loop at top. Front braced behind by two long sticks with smaller sticks lashed across. Curved basketry shell behind lower half of front, with woven and painted designs (less conspicuous than those on front). Fiber skirt all around bottom. |
