Description | Pottery. One pick hole. Fabric of medium fine texture, grey at core, outer surface buff to red. Handmade. Poor polish. Faint traces of a central zone of white lozenge pattern. With the bones in the urn are masses of a black substance which proved on analysis to be clay. Apparently the body was burned on a bed of clay and when the bones were gathered up, some of the clay soil was taken with them. |
