Description

Sommerville: Agate-onyx. Gallienus, forty-fifth Emperor of Rome, A.D. 260-268, the son of Valerianus Senior. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case O.

Vermeule: Agate-Onyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Laureate, draped cuirassed bust of a Roman emperor to right. Sommerville identifies him as Gallianus (A.D. 253-268) and the features do suggest a person of this period. Graeco-Roman?
