Sommerville: Sardonyx. Aelius Caesar, adopted by the Emperor Hadrian, who allowed hime to take the title of Caesar. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case F.

Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo (unmounted) Bust of a bearded Roman facing to right. Sommerville identifies him as Aelius Caesar, adopted son of the Emperor Hadrian. Probably 17th century
