Description | Sarod. Long, narrow body of dark brown wood, notched on either side. Sounding surface partially membrane and partially wood, and leading directly into neck. Both membrane and wood are pierced with tiny holes arranged in patterns. Neck and wood part of body outlined with ivory inlay, top of neck inlaid with round designs, a strips of ivory inlay around sides and bottom of neck. Peg box curves back with four pegs on one side and two on the other. Tassel with beads attached to carving at end of peg box. Ten lateral pegs along neck and upper body. Fair condition. Membrane torn, some strings missing, some broken. Some inlay off. |
