Description | Love powder. Small buckskin bag, containing vegetal substance. Handwritten note on catalogue card says: "Labelled: Love powder. This is prepared from the roots of certain trees and shrubs and is usually colored red. The powder must be kept in a small buckskin bag. It a boy or man wishes to marry a girl who is unwilling to become his wife, he gets a hair of the girl and puts it in the bag with the powder. After a short time the girl will become frantic in love with the individual who used the charm. Girls sometimes use the love powder for the purpose of getting a husband. Sometimes the powder is used only for the purpose of seduction." |
