Description | Somewhat barrel shaped; face on neck; arms in low relief on body and notched loops extending from side of head to shoulder. painted. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, missing neck, missing rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled/molded face on the neck and arms in relief on the body. There are stepped lugs on the sides of the neck. The vessel is painted with a band of double sided animal heads around the top half of the vessel in black, white, and red. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the base.
