Description

tapestry/bobin weave, zoomorphic. Design: interlocking birds, fish and cats heads. With five bars of bobbin weave introduced.

Rectangular cloth (fragment of) with 5 bands/stripes of a single-sided bobbin weave (floats on verso). This weaving appears to be over the plain weave base. Remnants of a needle-knitted edge. Evidence of what appears to be a join thread along one of the long edges. According to the catalogue card, this is a part of a "loin cloth". Color(s): White plain weave, woven section is red, yellow, and black.
