Description | Round bottomed, globular with high neck; wide mouth and two small lugs on base of neck. With bird or fish pattern. Painted in three colors. Wide mouthed vessel with a globular body, cylindrical collar, outward sloping rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel is painted with a band of geometric stylized animal designs around the neck and shoulder in white, red, and black. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. There are regular striations on the interior from smoothing. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2647." |
