Technique Basketry
Description

Cylindrical basket strainer with a close twined rim and base. The side walls are done in an open work, cross-warp weaving in an eye-hole design. Decorated around the rim with what appears to be four bands of "strawberry basket," or checked, patterns in dark fibers separated by three bands of twining.

Technical notes: twined, open twined, two-strand, cross-warp, diagonal/twill twining. 5 warps, 9 wefts per square inch. Cross-warping: 5 warps, 4 wefts per square inch.
