Vessel with rattle in base. One footed Cooking pot (olla) with a squat-globular body, no neck/collar, flanged rim, 1 horizontal strap handle on the body, and a rattle in foot base. There is a rattle in the foot. The vessel has a mold-formed monkey head attached to the front of the body and is painted with a zigzag design around the rim in red and black. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a burnished finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color.
