Description | Mridanga. Tall double-headed drum, body of dark brown wood. Widest point of body is the middle, where there are protruding linear carvings encircling the drum. A thick brown leather ring is wound each head, thick strips of red leather are attached to them going lengthwise on drum body. Both heads are skin, one is tan, the other tan with a spherical black tuning paste in center. Poor condition. Both heads detached, only small pieces of leather remain. |
